A "Luddite Social" is an in person event organized to discuss topics concerning the ethical use of technology. Anyone can form their own group and host their own event using the Luddite.Social platform. There are no restrictions on topics, group formations, nor how or where an event is hosted. Aren't Luddites anti-technology?

The caricature of Luddites as anti-technology misrepresents their cause, which was fundamentally about labor rights and ethical technology. The original Luddites were members of a 19th-century movement that protested against the economic and social upheaval brought by industrial machinery. They were not anti-technology, but opposed the ways in which technology was used to disempower workers and increase exploitation. The modern Luddite is merely someone who critically resists technologies that exploit workers, concentrate power, or degrade human dignity.
